Blog #4 A Remake Done Right
Hello! Welcome back to my blog, today I decided to talk about something involving technology as it has been a while since I last talked about it. This blog will be talking about a new video game that was released a few days ago and that game is, Resident Evil 4 Remake. The original Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005 on the GameCube first then later PlayStation 2. You may be asking, what is Resident Evil? Resident Evil is a survival horror franchise made by Capcom, a company located in Japan. Resident Evil or as it is known in Japan as, Biohazard was first created in 1996 for the PlayStation. As time went on, more Resident Evil games were made as the series grew in size. Capcom wanted to innovate the Resident Evil formula for their 4th game in the series and RE4 was their testing grounds. RE4 went through a lot of changes in it's early stages in life, originally RE4 was supposed to be where you play as Tony Redgrave, a human with super strength and speed who dawned a red and black attire with white hair. As they developed that idea more, they realized that this was straying too far from what made Resident Evil work and what it was known for. That idea wasn't fully scrapped as the director Hideki Kamiya picked up the project and turned the prototype RE4 into what is now known as Devil May Cry. Later prototypes of RE4 had the returning character Leon S. Kennedy, a character from RE2 become the main lead of the story. The gameplay of these prototypes were more akin to the original experience of classic Resident Evil games but with more super natural tones to it like fighting ghost, dealing with a demonic dark mist and having hallucinations. All of those ideas were scrapped and they finally found what they wanted for Resident Evil 4, an action packed survival horror game.
Resident Evil 4, a game that fans love and cherish with all of their hearts are worried that Capcom would cut out too much and stray away from what made RE4 special. Capcom during a livestream dedicated 10-15 mins of showcasing RE4 Remake and fans loved the looks of it as it looked like it was going to be a faithful remake. Fans were eagerly waiting to see more info and more gameplay of what Capcom had planned and a few weeks before the release, Capcom released a demo for free for everyone to try and to see how the game is. The fans and myself were absolutely loving the demo, to me it brought back memories of how games use to be and I loved every single second of it, the gameplay, the graphics and how faithful to the original they were. They even had cool secrets you can do where you can access a weapon and even tackle a hard challenge. I was ready to play this game and when it came out, it was one of the best experiences I have had with a game. Capcom not only changed up the story a bit and changed up iconic areas to freshen it up for veterans but they barely cut out segments of the game, I wasn't disappointed at all and even surprised that they changed up some of the bosses for the better. While there were some areas that were the exact same but it didn't feel like it. It still felt fresh and exciting and I feel that is because of the updated gameplay, it opens up so many ways to play the game. This was one of the most faithful remakes I have played in a long while and I had so much fun playing it. Capcom truly outdone themselves with this remake and I can't wait to play more. They even kept one of the iconic lines that Leon says. You can watch this video to see the comparison of how far this game has come graphically and mechanically. RE4 Remake brings what made RE4 great and that's high action, fun gameplay and satisfying encounters in wonderful quality. RE4 Remake may not be the best looking game in terms of bright colors but there is plenty of breath taking encounters like the castle and the big open lake.
